Ananas lucidus. Dwarf Red Pineapple. This outstanding houseplant is a great conversation piece because of its intense burgundy leaves which are sometimes burgundy / green. A golf ball sized pineapple will grow in about 1 year. And yes, these decorative fruit are edible (although they're considered ornamental because of their spectacularly small size.) We have some striking plants with 6-8 inch long leaves that we will send bare root along with your order. The strap-like leaves will grow to about twice the length they are now or about 16 - 18 inches tall. Requires very little water and prefers bright light but will do okay with less.

For a tropical look anywhere, this one wins the prize for cold-hardiest of all bananas. It has been said that it can grow in all 50 states but we've never tried it in Alaska (or anywhere else for that matter.) One thing for sure is it can take the cold. Down to -3°F and with protective mulch it can withstand temperatures down to -20°F. Also does well indoors.
Spectacular Banana in every way. The same great qualities as the Regular Orinoco Banana in a much smaller size. Just 7-8 feet tall. Despite their size they are not lacking in any way. Cold hard (Zones 7b-10) and excellent quality fruit. A very good and delicious banana. Sweet with a bit of a strawberry taste.
