Outside in zones 10-11. Prefers ample light and well-drained soil.
This baobab tree is native to tropical African countries. It grows in hot dry areas with well-drained soils. It is suitable for wetter climates but they should be frost-free. The tree is deciduous losing its leaves during the dry season. It may be able to tolerate the slightest frost during its dormant season.
This is the same tree that is the focal point of Disney's Animal Kingdom (only theirs is artificial) known as the Tree of Life. Outstanding as a bonsai. When grown in a pot the tree will stay small but in the wild it can reach 30 - 60 feet in height.
