Calamintha - Georgia Savory Basil
Clinopodium georgianum or Satureja georgiana. This little-known plant is an overlooked treasure. Highly aromatic, semi-evergreen. Resembles rosemary somewhat and is covered in pale pink flowers during warmer parts of the year. It is native to the southeastern US and has a mint smell that can rival most mint plants. It is non-invasive and drought tolerant but can stand wet soil.

Elleteria cardamom. Yes, this is the true cardamom spice of commerce. Cardamom has a strong, intensely aromatic taste and fragrance. Foliage is reminiscent of many gingers or seedling palm trees.

Okinawa Spinach
Gynura crepioides. Two plants in one. An ornamental groundcover and a delicious vegetable. Leaves are great fresh. Added to a salad they have a spicy lemon pepper taste. Or cooked as stir fry, etc. Leaves can be anywhere from 1 1/2 - 3 inches long and are shiny dark green on top and iridescent purple underneath. While not a true spinach, it is very interesting substitute that- unlike spinach, tolerates hot weather. A tough sub-tropical plant that is considered a "tender perennial" in that it doesn't tolerate freezing.
